delayed a/c operation?? 10 min. after startup!!

Anybody have any ideas? I have an 03 crown vic intercepter with a new problem for me. On a cold start, the a/c clutch doesn't engage until about 10 min. later, then the a/c begins to cool. I have not run into this problem before, plz help!

I already tried that, it didn't work. Any other suggestions? Do you know of any ways to test the high and low side cycling switches?

Maybe your low on refridgerant, and when the system gets heated up, the pressure increases enough to kick on the compressor.

Re: delayed a/c operation?? 10 min. after startup!!

The PCM controld A/C operation, so checking for trouble codes would be a good thing to do. Even if the check engine light is off, codes may be stored. A cheap autozone scanner may not be able to pull all the codes, but a good snap-on or dealer scanner will. You can also perform tests on the system with a good tool. I'd avoid probing around on the a/c system. You run the risk of feeding back high voltage into the PCM.

Re: delayed a/c operation?? 10 min. after startup!!

I hate it when that happens..... the codes did absolutely nothing for me. It turned out to be a temperamental friggin relay. It worked when it felt like it. When I checked it the first time around it didn't make a difference, this time it fixed it.........aarrrgggggghhhhh!!!!!!!!! LOL
