New project pics Ferrari 360 (black)
Have'nt seen anyone do a black one yet. I thought I'd give it a go. It's tamiya ts-14 black over the red plastic. sanded the body w/ 4000 grit polishing cloth and shot it, right from the can! Went over it with the usual meguire's and zymol combo. Any thought's?

Very nice. That is ba-a-a-a-ad.
Question though: How long did you wait to sand it? Black is the hardest colro to work with because you can see all the fine scratches from sanding. Were you able to get them all out? |

didn't have to sand the paint w/ this one. went straight to rubbing it out after 10hrs. or so in the food dehydrator (aka) model car paint dryer. The meguires actually removes quite a bit of paint. And the zymol removes just alittle bit, while applying the wax also. Rubbed with soft diaper quality flannel found at your local wal-mart in the fabric dept.

Looks super, I think Lubak (sp) has one on his site in black. I can't find the link to it at the moment, but it fits the body nicely! Looking great so far, keep the pics coming!!

I think I'll put a tag on it that says VADER or BADGUY, or do a white one and set them together and make a plaque Spy vs. Spy. or another tag could be DRKSIDE.

Thanks for the positive feedback people. No not trying to blow your primer theory away. I do use primer It just depends on the color of the plastic or the color of the topcoat or both. I've had very good luck by just sanding the plastic w/a polishing cloth and then go back over all the panel lines with a cleaner called soft scrub and a toothbrush, then wash the thing w/ castrol super clean and rinse it with distilled water. BTW. Tamiya paint rocks, so does their primer. both go on super thin but with really good coverage. Oh I also heat the can of paint in a bowl of warm water before spraying.
