Exclamation Need Help Quick 2000 Beetle GL 7,995 Good Deal

I am about to purchase a 2000 Beetle GL tommorrow at my local GMC Dealership. They got it on a trade in. It is yellow, has 90,000 miles on it. Its the 2.0 with the 5 speed manual tranny. Its also has a AC and a CD changer they put in a Sony.

It looks pristine on the outside and only the inside shows alittle wear. I was really impressed with the Power, ride and handling. I am buying it for a gas saver as I own an 03 Hemi Ram and its costing me about 90$ a week for just the gas to go to work and back. The salesman said the Beetle would get between 32-35MPG.

I didn't see any problems. The brakes seemed very good and the tires are like new. I was alot more impressed with this car than the brand new Chevey Aveo that I also test drove on the same lot.

The only thing I noticed I didn't like was when he first started it up it smoked blue just a little. It didn't do it anymore and I took it for a pretty good test drive. Afterwards I made him pop the hood and cutoff the AC and it ran pretty smooth but did seem to shake slightly. It seemed well on the test drive except I noticed once in a while when I shift into 3rd it would jump back and forth slightly. Maybe my fault for for not shifting or maybe a miss?

Is there any specifics I need to lookout for on this model?

Actually they knocked the price down to 7,695$ tax, tag and all it was 8,019.95$.

You really should get an independant mechanic to check it out for you as from what you say about the "miss" could be many things - some simple to fix but others expensive. Don't be rushed by the salesman. Also you could get the local VW agents to take a look....may cost $100 but could be money well spent. If the salesman baulks at an inspection do not buy the car - plenty more to choose from. Good Luck.
