90 accord engine problems

I have a 90 accord and it has a f22a1 stock in it but anyway when i crank it up it sounds alright but then i put it in any gear it sounds like its gonna die and it will if i dont keep patting the gas..Also i can take out my 2nd spark plug wire and the car still runs like its in there when i tried that to the other 3 it tried to die..Also when i turn my ac on it tries to die..and the check engine light is on and it flashes 4 times..Also i bought a new alternator..So i dont know what to do.

Re: 90 accord engine problems

Soooooo....you've got a dead hole. Change that plug. If that don't get it change the wires. If that don't get it, see if the distributor cap is cracked.

Re: 90 accord engine problems

Put a spark plug in that wire and hold it against the motor and see if it fires when the motor is running, should be a nice hot white spark.

If it firing, and that cylinder is still dead, you'll have to pull the plug and see if it's wet. If it has fuel on it, you can assume the injector is good (I suppose it's injected?), if not, you need to see why that one is dead. You can put your finger on the injector while it's running (not too hot though...ouch) and feel it clicking as it operates. If it's dead, you found the problem.

Then you'd have to verify that the electrics are supplying power to it and actually signalling it to work, and if so, replace the injector. I've not seen an injector go bad on a Honda, so I'd be a little suprised.

If spark and fuel check out, you've got a bad valve or other internal problem. Not ticking loudly or anything, is it?

You can save a lot of guessing with a vacuum gauge reading. A vacuum gauge only costs about $20.

Plug the hose into any manifold vacuum supply on the motor and start it. If the reading is steady, you're good, you have a simple problem. If the needle shakes in time to the misfire, you've got issues (bent/broken valve, blown ring, etc).

I don't know what your CEL code means, sorry.
