Seat Belt Replacement

Any idea on how hard is to change out the driver side seat belt on a 2000 silverdo? Or maybe how is it done?

its a pain in the ass. ive done a few. you have to take the seat cover off the seat and thats not the problem, the head rest holders are the pain, i dont realy remember how they came off. just go to a body shop and pay the hour labor to have them do it.

Remove the side shield and take off the nut holding the seat belt.

Pop off the seat belt bezel on the seat belt tower at the top of the seat.

There is a small hole on the side of each head rest guide that you need to put a pick in to depress the lock so that headrest will come all the way out.

You need to pull the headrest guides straight out, close the handle part of a pair of pliers under the head of the guide and tap it out.

There is a J-clip on the bottom of the seat cover that you can separate to open the the seat cover. Once you open the j-clip you will see two dog ears with a plastic tree that you need to pull out of the cardboard backing.

Reach inside the front of the cover and carefully separate the Velcro.(be careful not to pull the Velcro out of the foam).

You can then pull the cover up equally from both sides of the seat like you are turning it inside out.

After you have removed the cover you will need to carefully pull the glued foam from the cardboard on the sides of the seat so that you can remove the cardboard which is held on by two plastic trees on the sides and hooked on the headrest guide tubes on the top

You will need to take the cap off of the top of the seat belt tower (two small bolts) to access the top bolt holding the seat belt assembly and the other bolt is at the bottom of the seat belt assembly.

Use lock-tite on the seat belt bolts on re-assembly.

You can figure out how to put it back together if you got this far. Resetting the Velcro on the seat cover is not that easy for someone that has never done it before and you have to be very careful not to pull the Velcro out of the foam if you are setting and re-setting trying to make it look right.
