I have a 91 Bonneville LE, which failed Emissions inspection for NOx, reading 1226. Anybody have any idea what could be causing the problem?
Thanks. |

Re: Emissions fail, NOx - 1226
Any codes? If not try cleaning the egr valve. You may end up replacing it as it may be bad and causing the problem.

Re: Emissions fail, NOx - 1226
Only code that shows up is 41 for the cam sensor; I'll be working on that next week. The valve is a digital EGR valve; any particular cleaning method or should I just spray it with carburettor cleaner or Simple Green?

Remove it and spray it with throttle body cleaner. Also check the passageways to the maniford. They can carbon up and stop flow to the egr.
Make sure to allow it to dry before reinstalling. |
