Hello all,
I am new to the forum and just got a 96 VW Golf GL 2.0 I love the car, but I have a few questions for you all and I hope I can get some good answers. 1. My check engine light is on so I need to take it to a shop do any of you know of a good not too expensive place to get it check out in the Chicago area? 2. Where can I find a good cold air intake for my car? I can’t seem to find one for my year 96. 3. Does anyone know how to change the time on a face pull Pioneer radio? I have tried everything. 4. I need new brakes should I get some regular brakes or is there a good brand I should get like Hawk etc.? 5. What is the biggest tires I can get on my car? I have 16’s but want to go bigger. 6. My side panel is not stuck on should I add some type of glue to keep it on. 7. What can I add to my engine to help my car last long? 8. I have to go test my car at the Vehicle Emission Test what can I do to make sure my car past it? Thanks for your help I am not a car guru and know very little I know I can get my questions answered here thanks for you help again. |

Re: New and have some questions please help.
I recently bought an OBD cable (w. software) from: http://www.obdtool.com/
$71 and you can switch off the CHECK ENGINE light anytime. Also look at and sort out the fault that triggered the light in the first place. In my case it was 'Idle Adaptation at limit' - carbon buildup on throttle plate - an easy fix with a rag and can of carburettor cleaner. |
