New mustang
My friends and I cant stand fords but I am starting to like the mustang again but some one was tryin to tell me an 89 5.0 gt mustang would kill the new stang in a race
. i know they have balls and all but I think this is wrong.

Humm I think you need to rethink this post i mmean most of the stangs really ran low on power but you need help.

yeah as cobra said... the new mustang would definalty win, without question. stock vs stock. however many people do prefer fox bodies because they are lighter and the 5.0 is a very easy motor to mod, and its cheap to mod. not to mention it takes very well to mods. it is one of the best bang for buck out there, as far as straight line performance goes.
also another thing to consider. the mustangs have less power yes, but they also cost considerably less than the other cars mentioned. and the car that was left out, the 03/04 cobras were priced close to the other cars but had considerably more power. just FYI, cobra, the 01 generation fbodies were drastically underrated on hp. they actually have about 350. they did this for marketing, so the corvette would have more, but in reality they are the same engine, or atleast pretty damn close. just out of curiousity, why do you hate fords so much. i used to hate gm cars... but it comes to a point where you just start liking cars in general. so while ford is my favorite, i still like other competing companies. |

There is something I'd like to point out too on this. The '05 GT comes with a 3.55 rear while the fox body 5.0 came with a 2.73. If you've drove a 5.0 with lower gears, you can tell a BIG difference.
Even with that the new GT would still beat it but it wouldn't be as bad.

As for the new stang vs the 5.0 stock vs stock the 4.6 will own the 5.0. First off the 4.6 has a 60HP advantage right off the bat. The 5.0 wouldn't even get a sniff of the 4.6.
As for mods and builds in general, the 5.0 can be built up alot cheaper than the 4.6. The 302 has been around forever and there are alot of parts around ..cheap! I know I have a 02 GT and the cost of mods are sort of nuts. They do respond really well though I will say that. Its like everything you buy for a 4.6 is $ 450.00 75 mm tb and plenium.. 450.00 Injectors, 400 and change. The down side to a 4.6 GT is they don't have forged internals so you are limited to around 400 HP with out smokin the cast crank etc. Later guys Steve

The 05 weighs what, 3500 pounds? Someone earlier said the 05 comes with 3.55's. So throw them into the 92. Then my $$$ is on the 5.0!! The 05 needs 300hp just to get that fat pig moving! I know 3.55 wouldn't be stock for the 5.0 anymore but just using them as an equalizer. I think you guys know what I'm saying. |
