paint it yourself=
i have an old car that cost me $1200. THE BLACK PAINT and clear TOP COAT ,ETC IS PEELING,BLISTERING.IT,S MOSTLY ABOVE THE PIN STRIPE. what,s the best method to prepare it for paint. can i use a little orbit sander?should i use wet type sand paper and run some masking tape along the pin stripe? i ain,t decided yet if i will spray the primer from cheap cans and then top coat with a brush. i had a cheapy car 40 years ago painted with a brush and it was not too bad. no, it would not win at the custom car show.but it was a clean go to work car(fishing car).anyone have any luck spraying top coat with cans??? no, i ain,t embarassed. i,m in katrinaland .

Re: paint it yourself=
If you go to a good parts store, some of the big box stores, even online at www.bn.com or www.amazon.com there are some good, inexpensive books on basic body work. There are more details and pictures there than someone can give you in a half a dozen lines on the net.
FWIW YMMV |
