took me a wile, but the console is finished

well, it took me longer than I had origionally planned, but I finailly got my overhead console built and installed. granted, there are still a few loose ends to tie up, like wireing the cb, and putting the padding in, but for the most part, it's done.

here are some pics of it,

if the pictures don't work, just go here, http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2245174 and scrole down to the bottom of the page.

oh, almost forgot, don't pay any attention to the time stamps on the pictures, they were taken on 4-22-06, but the camera had been setting a wile without bateries, and I forgot to reset the time stamp.

Cool deal; where did (or will you) end up running the wires?

Oh yeah, and did you allow for ventilation of the radio? It'll get awfully hot in there without it.

Re: took me a wile, but the console is finished

all the wireing runs along the passanger side of the body(in some of that plastic split wire loom stuff), and up the passanger side of the roll bar(under the padding), across the sound bar, and to the console, where it's all under the cover. all of the wireing will be consealed except for a little bit of the coax cable for the cb antenna, but sense it's black too, I don't think it will be that noticable. as far as ventilation for the radio, I haven't gotten to it yet, but I have some metal mesh(used to be a speaker cover for an intercom system here at work, and is about the right size) that I'm going to install on the top side, directly above the radio.

I drove the jeep to work today, and noticed that the radio bounces a little bit, and causes the cd to skip. however, at the moment, the radio is only held in by the little mounting box (little steel rectangle that comes with the radio, and you bend the tabs to hold it in place). there is a stud on the back of the radio for attatching a stabalizer strap, and I think once I get that attatched, it should eliminate any bouncing.
