quick KA-T questions.
I'm going to start piecing together a turbo kit for my KADE, and I have a couple quick questions.
I'm already running an oil pressure gauge, so I know where I can T-off to get oil to the turbo, but where do most people go for the oil drain? Keep in mind I'm trying to do this all myself. About how much cutting/modding is required for mounting of a FMIC? And if I paint the IC flat black, (I hate the way FMIC's look), will it affect the cooling enough to not paint it black? thanks, Chad

Re: quick KA-T questions.
the oil outlet should just go back into the oil pan, but above the level where its full or else the oil wont drain out and cause problems...
you should just take the oil pan off, find a good spot, cut a whole proper size, and weld in a bung that has the same fitting as your oil outlet line. And im not sure about the IC, but what are you planning to run for the rest of your setup?

Re: quick KA-T questions.
I'm probably just going to run a T3/T4 to start out, I'll have to find what trim I want to go with. I'd like to go with a full-race manifold, but we'll see what kind of deal I can find, or what my money situation is. Probably go with an ebay intercooler (name brand, not some random cheap one).
Then I'll see how it runs with the JWT computer for 370cc/Cobra MAF. If it runs ok, I'll try and skimp out on a tune for a while and just break everything in on 6psi, or whatever spring I get with the wastegate.

Re: quick KA-T questions.
also, tell me if I'm making any bad choices, I'm pretty familair with KA troubleshooting, but this will be my first time messing with turbo.
I've contemplated doing SR/RB...yadda yadda yadda. But I've had a KA in both of my 240's over the last 4 years, and I've become really comfortable with the KA, and I dont know how I would do with a whole different motor.

Re: quick KA-T questions.
thanks, that sounds good.
but the only ECU I have is the JWT computer do you think that they could still tune it? I'm probably going to ask him personally.

Re: quick KA-T questions.
yes enthalpy can rom tune a jwt ecu...and no enthalpy doesnt have a 3 day turn around right now, hes actually being the mechanic for the enjuku driftcars, so hes only tuning on the weekends mostly now.
all i can say is...DO NOT SKIMP ON THE TUNING...if you do your shit will not last...plain and simple. for a t3/t4 go with a .50 trim or a 57 trim...percision turbos have a good selection of them...and as hit and run said, drain plug runs to the upper part of the oil pan.

Re: quick KA-T questions.
and would an Enthalpy tune be a good enough tune to run 7lbs for a while?
actually depends on the motor, but lets say a decent motor?

Re: quick KA-T questions.
most people run a enthalpy tune with an safc, but most people will vouch and say that the tunes are so close to being perfect, that you can run them without a fuel tuner, and be 100% fine...no matter what boost. Thats what enthalpy does...he tunes for YOUR setup...you tell him absolutly everything you have done...from injectors, to maf, to any thing that is motor performance, and tunes for that setup...custom setup ecu's...that is why enthalpy is good

Re: quick KA-T questions.
if your gonna run 7 lbs, dont get a big intercooler. id say 6" tall, no bigger than 3" deep. any more will result in excessive lag.
and painting an intercooler will take away its effectiveness, but how much its worth is up to the beholder.
