Buying a Maxima
Hi I have a SUV that I owe about $22K on. i want to get a maxima that is an 02 and about $10K. How woudl that work with financing if i'm trading in a car that is more expensive than the one that I want? What would I end up paying for.

Re: Buying a Maxima
I think it all depends on how much they're willing to give you for the SUV. If you're upside down on the loan, in other words, if the dealership offers you less than you owe, then they would probably just pay off the loan for you, and tack on the difference to the price of the Maxima.
So if they would only offer you $19K for it, then you would have the extra $3K tacked on to the $10K, owing $13K. But then if they offered you the entire $22K for it, then you'd just have the $10K loan for the Maxima. Hope I didn't confuse you more. Edit: Sorry, just realized this post is a bit old. You're probably beyond your problem now. ;-)
