Angry Cabin Air Filter

I have been tryin to find any reference in either my repair manual
or in parts lists, like Autozone's, for my mother-in-law's 1996 Metro Lsi.
A local shop tried to sell her two cabin air filters for $242.98 installed.
Any opinions?
This shop also tried to sell her both "headlamp lenses" at $850.64.
I found the problem to be a case of miss-installation of the passengerside
headlamp, causing a poor headlight pattern, as found as the vehicle was
in for a state inspection. Autozone sells complete headlamp assemblies for
only $249.99.
I think the shop is tryin to take her to the cleaners.
Opinions please.

"cabin air filters"

Never heard of such a thing for a Metro.

Could they be an aftermarket product, or did the original vehicle design accomodate this?

Re: Cabin Air Filter

some newer cars have cabin air filters.. Not a metro. You get to suck in air straight from the passenger side fender well . As for headlamps.. are yours composite lamps? You can pick those up on ebay pretty cheap. Or if they're foggy, just take a very light abrasive polish to them. You can always buy new clips if the holding clips are broken. Hard to judge what needs to be fixed without seeing them though.

Re: Cabin Air Filter

Thanx guys. I believe the shop peeps are incredibly stupid, or criminal.
They probably pull this s*** on lots of old ladies. It's legal clobberin' time, if I can help it. The headlight problem was the result of a botched headlamp replacement by a supposed mechanic. He did not use the retainer clip properly. Could a state inspector miss that? I saw it in 2 minutes. The cabin filter looks like a simple case of a B.S. charge for something my mother in law knows nothing about. I am soooo peeved. The shop is a Kramer Goodyear in Va Beach, VA. Keep your mother away from there.
