God fuking damnit gorry movies suck! How the f do they let the child molesting sickos make these movies!!??? Hostel, Saw (F-ing TWO OF THEM?!), Hannibal, etc, etc; The people that make and watch these movies have horrible psychological problems. I bet 99% of them have the same tendencies that serial murderers and rapists have. Where's the child molesting torture rape, insest movie genre?? THERE IS NONE CAUSE THAT IS FUKING SICK!!! AND SO IS THE SICK SHIT IN THESE MOVIES! I mean seriously give one reason why someone would enjoy a movie in which someone gets chopped up into pieces as they scream in pain. The real truth is, if you think about it, if someone enjoys this then they themselves must want to do these things. That these movies make 1 cent is beyond my comprehension. That REALLY says something about people.

And if you say "it's just a movie." Yeah, that's great and so is a movie in which a baby gets raped. But it's just a movie so go buy your tickets to "Baby gets raped," directed by SOME SICK MOTHERFU*KER that needs to be institutionalized!

Maybe you're the one with the problem if you think these movies were intended to be enjoyed. It's not like the filmmakers were sitting behind the camera going "oh yeah, this rape scene makes me so hot". The whole point of showing these sorts of scenes is to evoke sickness and fear in you.

So you pay money (quite a bit considering cinema costs) to become sick. You know you can get the same thing by just drinking spoiled milk, and any other mirriad free nausea inducing activities.


I agree with the first poster, I had a friend that described to me some of the scenes in hostel and I have doubs about the sanity of people making such movies.

We do not tolerate as a society images of animal cruelty (fake or not) but movies depicting the same thing for humans make millions at the box office.

Exactly, YOU don't have to. The first poster doesn't HAVE to. But some people like to have different experiences. Same reason people pay to go into a haunted house, or to go on some rollercoasters.

And then some people prefer to stay in their own little bubble of a 'good' society.

Matter of fact I just went and saw Silent Hill.......that movie was cool especially the part at the end where the old religious fanatic lady gets torn/ripped in half by barbwire.

is it the violence and blood that makes you not want to watch the movie or is it the fact that, for example in Hostel (from what i've heard/seen), someone is getting brutally tortured? if it is the violence and blood then what about the Kill Bill Volumes? i know that the blood was excessive and some may say overboard. if it is the torturing, etc. what about movies such as Three Kings where the capture one of the soldiers and torture him until he tells them why America is in Iraq? I guess basically what i'm asking, yes these are all rhetorical questions, is this "Does the bloodshed make you sick or the actions that cause the bloodshed?"

i'll agree with you in the fact that some people have to be mentally ill to come up with some of the ideas for movies. Hostel imparticular. even though i have not seen the movie i have heard about it and i have no clue how people can come up with such horrific ideas. i guess there moms didn't hold them enough as a kid,or too much or something.

Lol, thanks guys. :P I knew I was kind of asking for this. The reason I was so upset when I posted this is because my brother was watching Hostel in the other room. And he had just watched Saw I and II. Have any of you actually seen these movies? If you haven't then why are you forming an opinion?

Did I say I was forced to watch them? NO! Although in a way I am. It's just like shitty food in this country. Are you forced to eat that crappy ass food? NO! But does almost everyone? Yes. Almost everyone in this country is fat, obese, or getting there. Is anyone forcing you to be? Then why are you, and everyone else...? The fact is that things not actually forced upon you, still affect you.

What I WAS saying was that the popularity of these movies is disturbing and DOES in fact say something specific about people in general, and specifically the people that see these movies. People like to think it doesn't but I bet if you psychologically evaluated these people they would share similar traits, and not good ones.

But just to make this clear, I'm not talking about someone getting shot, or even someone getting their arm blown off in a movie like Black Hawk Down. It would be stupid to make a movie that is supposed to accurately depict a true event and intentionally leave out parts. What I AM talkning about is the most depraved, sickest, most disgusting things you can imagine that are shown for not other reason than to show them. Some of these movies go too far in showing things that the writer would have had to work very hard thinking of. And I ask you again, what would you be saying if this topic was about movies that depicted babies getting raped and then tortured? Or some other sick (and not socially acceptable) thing. Are your views on gorry movies a result of everyone else's opinions? People judge what is right and wrong, not based on reason and thinking about it, but on what the general group thinks is right and wrong. You can see this by looking at different nation's opposite viewpoints on moral and other issues.

You are getting to the core of the matter.

It’s not the violence in particular; I am not squeamish by any means. Violence is an intrinsic part of such movies as Saving Private Ryan or Enemy at the Gates, it is there to tell a story. In fact I cannot stand wussyfied war movies that sugarcoat the story. War is brutal and it should be presented as such, it’s a historical fact.

Even over the top violence such as in Kill Bill, the violence is there to tell a story of vengeance. Heck I am even a fan of Sin City, the first part with the big guy chasing down the serial killer played by "Frodo" was tremendously violent but it carried a powerful story.

It is movies like Hostel that lack any plot whatsoever and are made only to show twisted scenes of humans being torn apart and tortured in the most imaginative way. How fucked up do some people have to be to even come up with those ideas let alone go to al the effort of using special effects to make them as real as possible. And how messed up in the head do some people have to be to enjoy watching this.

thats why i asked about jason and freddy movies for
those were the goriest of the movies back then but after a while they dont even scare a 10 yr old cuz weve seen it all many times already.in 10+yrs these aint gonna be considered gory anymore and we will be saying the same shit bout other movies at that time

You do know you're playing right into the film makers hand? Why do they make these films so bloody? To cause a scene and get attention. It has been seen over and over again that when a movie causes an uproar or there is controversy, people will go to see what the fuss is about.

Not to mention that when the words "bloodiest movie you've ever seen" or "people fainted while watching" will draw crowds. They want to see if it's the bloodies movie they've ever seen.

1960's - this new music called "rock and roll" was said to be for devil worshipers
1970's - Porn chic, uprise in violent movies, ect
1980's - VHS's spread of pornographic movies and other violent films of the 70's
1990's - the internet's wide spread of porn, graphic images, ect to anybody at anytime, rap music
21st century - violent games causing violent kids

There is something every single decade that can be seen as "bad" or "unnecessary" for people.

Neutrino thank you; that is what I was trying to say. I don't personally like the gore and some other things in movies like Black Hawk Down and Sin City but that is just my personal taste. The things in the movies I was talking about are completely different. My main point was that these movies do relatively well. If I made a movie where a baby gets raped (same example but it's the clearest example I can think of) and it did well, wouldn't you be a little concerned? I mean if I make a comedy and it does well then that says that people must like comedy. If I make an action movie and it does well then people must like action. And if I make a movie where a schoolgirl gets ripped to pieces while screaming in pain and it does well then people must like that. Some of the things in these movies are very close to that last scene, and like you say will probably get there as time goes on.

Doesn't that concern you? Think of the progression; what is it going towards? Do I want my kids or grandkids to grow up in a world that shows the most f-ed up images IMAGINABLE because they have been dulled by years of the images? I suppose you could make people accostomed to anything, but is that a good thing? Should nothing be done about it?
