Running A Red (Accused)

Rode up with my friend in the car to a intersection, red light, made a right turn, kept going. A month later my dad tells me I gotta pay 180 dollars for running a red - and there's pictures to prove it. What would your reaction be if you knew your car aint working and u gotta cough up 180 yet u know you never "ran a red" in your life. Here's the pictures, I'm clearing making a turn, brake lights are on, First picture - front tires turned right, Second picture - the car is off to the right. Do those cameras even capture blinking from the turn signal? Here are the pictures, decide for yourself, and add some input.

Re: Running A Red (Accused)

did you stop at the red light? it surprises me, but some people actually don't know that, even if you're making a right turn at a red light, you do have to completely stop.

the bottom picture measures velocity "v=32kph" which is like 19.88mph. the "2342" near the top looks like a timestamp. they'd have more leverage if they included seconds, but the second part is month, day, and year. the line underneath might be a filename or picture number since only one character has changed... you could argue either way. you could say "it's not unreasonable that a car accelerate to 20mph in just a few feet, since this is such a light car. the firts picture does not show any motion blur, but instead shows a vehicle completely stopped in front of the line at a traffic signal." others may argue that it's capturing what we call a "rolling stop."

eh, you can always plead "not guilty."

p.s. nice rex

Re: Running A Red (Accused)

I would fight it. I see a completely stopped vehicle, that then makes a right hand turn...You could definately argue that it was stopped, and accelerated to that speed, And 180 seems like an awful lot of money to just let go because of a freaking camera...thank god we dont have those in Florida.

Re: Running A Red (Accused)

Yeah really...if that timestamp is right then it was damn near midnight! What Iwant to know is, how the hell did they get your plate number from that picture? First off, its reflecting back quite brightly, and second..that is a very nasty picture.

Re: Running A Red (Accused)

it was at 11:42pm, there's a third picture attatched with the liscence plate clearly shown. it's obviously not running a red, fail to signal while making right hand turn, maybe.

Re: Running A Red (Accused)

And the Velocity conveniently isn't shown in the first picture.

Re: Running A Red (Accused)

You could fight it, if in fact, you did signal. The car does look completely stopped. Running a traffic signal is a big deal... something like 4 points here... probably the same in Fl.

I just got a ticket for cutting off some bitch on her cellphone in the far left lane of the freeway. Apparently I didn't flick my signal. The cop was an asshole and gave me an "improper lane change" ticket which equates to $125 and 2 points, but since my record is pretty okay at this point with only one 2 point infraction in the passed 3 years, I'm just going to pay it because going to court sucks. And I saw a public docket for that day and I would be between to fucktards who have to show up for reckless driving and speeding with suspended license. So it doesn't seem worth it to take my vacation time off work to go and try to argue that the bitch deserved to be cut off...

Re: Running A Red (Accused)

red lihjt tickets suck. I went to court here in az to fight and lost badly. They sent me 2 dinky pictures in the mail. when i went to court, ther ewas a real nice lady there. She starts by mentioning her name and then says "i will be representing the case on behalf of the city of mesa and then bust out 2 HUGE COLOR pictures of the ENTIRE intersection. There was a truck next to me that had the rear tires clear the line and mine had barley touched the white line. I was on the inside and clearly made the turn before the truck and was out of the intersection by far before the truck was. The judge said it did not matter what the truck did because i was tht one that touched the sensors. I had to pay 190 and they wouldnt let me go to traffic school so it would not go on my record. I also had to take a mandatory red light running/DUI class. It was bullshit

Re: Running A Red (Accused)

If you ran the light just pay it. If you didn't come to a complete stop then you ran it.

Re: Running A Red (Accused)

Take it to court, then ask the judge to please allow you your constitutional right, on being able to confront your accuser.
