Honda vs The American Manufacturers

Interesting article. It mirros my experience comparing my 91 Si (Bought used with 56k on the clock) to my 88 Mustang GT (bought new).

I put around 90k on both vehicles. I drive the Honda harder than the Mustang. In 90k the Mustang had these failures: differential, heater core, water pump, AC, battery cable, paint shedding, to name a few.

The Honda I bought after the Mustang was totalled has had a turn signal switch fail and the wire for the rear wiper has broken. That's in the 90k I's put on it SINCE I bought it. It has about 156k on it now.

My 97 HX has about 160000 miles on it and NEVER broke, nothing. Same clutch, timing belt, same everything besides the front brake pads were changed twice. On top of it, it was very poorly mantained. oil change every 50000 miles, same oil filter since 60000 miles, o yea the fans did stop working at about 80000 only because the front end was smashed so it had a overheating problem only when stopped for long periods of time, but it still ran like a champ, started everytime, etc. This is just a prime example that hondas dont break and i will never buy a american car.

The only American car I would ever buy probably would be some old Muscle Car, since they are king of the drag strip. My fav is '69 Charger R/T.
