Re: put a 2.8 into a 2.4 possible????????

You could put a 2.8 in, but I wouldn't really recommend it, 2.4s are a lot better (just as much if not more power, better mpg, greater performance potential, less weight). For a rebuilt one you could look in junkyards, call up GM Performance, maybe even Summit/Jegs/etc.

Just out of curiosity, why do you need a new engine?

yes, there would be a HELL of alot of modifications necessary, you do know that the 2.8 is one of the biggest piece of shit engines ever right?? (at least the ones they put in blazers and camaros) you would be much better off just rebuilding/replacing your 2.4

Re: put a 2.8 into a 2.4 possible????????

There is one drawback of a 2.4 quad four, expensive to repair if it breaks. There is one thing not to do on a 1996 and up quad four,do not turn backwards.Turn the crankshaft as you are tightening a bolt.If you turn it backwards, you will bend the valves. There is another alternative, put a 2.2 in its place.I have done one to a 1995 Sunfire. The 2.2 is more reliable and costs less to repair than the 2.4 quad four. The transmission has to be changed too,Quad fours are by themselves

Yes, definitely have it done professionally. But I'm still curious, why do you need a new one?

umm one of the pistons got all messed up on it. so if im gonna tear it all down to fix that i might as well rebuild it or get a new or rebuilt engine and throw it in there. i found a 2.4 engine but its for a 2000 and mine is a 1999 would it fit in there???
