Turn the key and nothing

I need some help on this please.

I have a 98 Isuzu Rodeo V6 manual 2 wheel drive. I just replaced the started back in December. I also replaced the battery and alternator. The problem I was having then is that when you push the clutch in to start, nothing would happen. If you moved the clutch in and out a few times, it might start. So I figured it was the switch. Well I ended up taking the alternator and starter to be tested. Turns out the alternator was bad but the starter passed. So I put the new alternator in and put the old starter in. Well the problem went away for a day or so.

I ended up talking to my father-in-law about the problem and he suggested that it would be the starter. So I bite the bullet and buy a new starter. I toss it in and the damn thing works every time. I was happy.

Now the damn problem is back. When the car does start, the car is not weak when starting. It cranks right up and we are off. The issue I have is that the car is not making any clicking noise that I can hear of. If I push in the clutch and turn the key, everything (radio) shuts off like normal. Could my problem be the starter again? Could it be the ignition switch?

Thanks in advanced for the help

Try adjusting the clutch switch first. Might not be making contact all the time. Also check battery cables and clamps for any corrosion as well as check all grounds for good contact.

If all that checks ok its possible its the starter if its aftermarket. Isuzu's seem to eat aftermarket starters and alternators.

Re: Turn the key and nothing

Update to my thread here.

I checked the cables on the battery. They seemed tight but I decided to so a little sanity check. I disconnected the cables, cleaned the terminals and cables and reconnected them. Made sure that the cables were nice and tight and have not had a problem since.

When in doubt, do the obvious regardless of how you feel about it. It may save you money.
