Mercon V or Not
On another thread I am doing an engine trans swap. I am at the point now of putting in the fluids. The original 98 trans had a sign stating Mercon V only, now the trans is a 96, do I need Mercon V or will it harm it or can I use the standard Mercon rated fluid? TCCOA states that 96 and up T-bird and Cougars with the 4r70w trans must use Mercon V, any ideas if that means CVPI's too?

Re: Mercon V or Not
ALL AODE/4R70W/4R75W transmissions from mid'92 to current MUST use Mercom V ATF, NO OTHER.
Yes, this includes your '96 4R70W. |
