89 regal ltd, 3.1...not that it matters
THAT'S ALL I WANT TO KNOW. Since a knock sensor adjusts the timing when an engine is running, can a failed knock sensor prevent proper timing spark... causing a no start? All I want is yes or no (or even a maybe). This is the point I'm at in the troubleshooting, and it's the only question I need answered at the moment.
Sorry to sound curt, but I've gotten alot of suggestions that have already been checked or not put at the top of the list due to recent (or fairly recent) replacement and I do appreciate them. (I know that electrical components can fail in no specific amount of time, but I'll check those later, just before "obscure stupid stuff") People, don't get me wrong. I love all of you who share your time, experience, and knowledge with all of us. But I'm tired of responses from people who aren't reading what's written in the posts, giving me a fix for a problem completely contrary to what I stated as the situation, and also the so-called "professionals" who think they can talk down to shadetrees. i.e., don't ask me if it turns over. If it doesn't turn over, why would I expect (or care) if I get ignition spark! This is a recurring problem that I see as I browse bulletin boards all over and it's sooo frustrating!! If you REALLY REALLY want to know the situation & what's been checked you can ask me nicely & I'll post it!
Aloha!!! Darlene
