The oil pressure switch if you have one is only a saftey switch to keep the fuel pump running if the fuel pump relay fails.
What year and engine.
When the fuel pump quits you need to check the 12 volt power feeds from relay to fuel pump.
Some have a fuep pump power test wire?
What kind/brand of pump are you putting on it?
Have you ran a fuel pressure check on it?

Ok that would explain a lot on the problem.
Also make sure the fuel filter is good shape.
A pluged up fuel filter will overload the fuel pump and in some cases over heat the pump and wiring.
I take it someone else or a repair shop is working on it now?
Let us know how it goes.

No, I have it here at home. Fuel filter is brand new just changed it like 3 days ago. I tried connecting the pump and it would randomly turn on but, it still wouldn't start. It it is the wiring is that something I am going to be able to do myslef or do I have to take it in somewhere to have it done? Thanks...

Re: fuel pumps fun

When I turn the key I hear a clicking sound ( like 3 clicks) that is coming from under the dash somewhere on the drivers side. Do you have idea what this could be and could it be related at all to my other issues.

Re: fuel pumps fun

If the connector has been hot or melted work on that end first.
Check for 12 volt power at gray wire on the wiring plug for fuel pump power engine run or key on engine prime.
Also make sure you are getting ground on black wire.

If you have a 1999 350 engine code R it also has a balance fuel pump and relay and balance module on left fram rail.
All of that has to work right for the in tank fuel pump to run.
Also do you have dual tanks.
Any check engine lights or codes?

Before you get very deep in the fuel pump/balance pump and balance pump module and relay or fuel system on it.
I would suggest you get all data DIY sub for it.

First thing first.
Does it have the balance fuel pump and module on the frame?
Have you got the wiring plug fixed?
Are you getting 12 volts and ground to the fuel pump in the tank?

What is your engine code ? the 8th digit in your vin?
Check fuse if you have no 12 volt power to fuel pump relay.
If it has a balance fuel pump and relay/module it will be on the left frame.
Follow the fuel lines from the fuel tank to engine. If the only thing you find is a fuel filter you are luckie. If you find the balance moduel and balance fue pump inbetween you are in big time trouble.
Post back if you find one.
