92-95 intake mpfi swap few questions..

ok,I just spent alot of hours searching & learning about this,
I cant seem to find the 88-91 si mpfi,but I have great access to a 92-95 mpfi at a junkyard for 40.00,w/injectors(wont need),injector plugs(great),sensors,
ok let me get to the point,

If I was to buy that intake (because I want an obx intake off ebay later)
all I would need is:

88-91 si injectors(maybe from what I've read-but I would get them anyways)
pm6/pg7/pm7 ecu
88-91 si distributor
injector resistor box
fuel line to fuel filter(from 92 intake?)
throttle cable(don't need at the momment--but I DO!)-(also from 92 civic??)

then do the mpfi setup?

I know this is all over the internet & I've searched the af forums & so on,
but nobody gets to the real point, its just a bunch of this & that.
ppl wanting to swap harness's over from 0bd1 to 0bd0---NOT ME!

aren't the 92-95 intake & 88-91 intakes (mpfi's) practicly the same,
besides theres a map sensor located on the 92-95's intake.

but the mpfi setup has been on my mind alot! & I'm going to go with it.
thanks for any help!

(also,I just read this:
-Connect the C1 wire to the blue/green wire on the CPS (the sensor is inside the Distributor on a SOHC engine). For doing this I suggest swapping out to the proper Si distributor plug so it is all plug and play and looks clean.
-Connect the C2 wire to the blue/yellow wire on the CPS.)

so does this mean I can use my dx distributor if I rewire it?
or buy a si distributor & plug & play?(or is it just the plug? distributor plug?/wiring harness plug?) ---im lost on that one.
(but its not a big deal,,,my motivation tells me to get an si distributor & rewire just like it says!)
thanks!!!

Yes, all MPFI manifolds are nearly identical. You can use any one from a 88-00 civic/crx/delsol as long as it is a dseries. So yes, that manifold will work fine. The only meaningfull difference is that the map sensor is on the throttle body and not the firewall. Easy fix, unplug it from the firewall and plug it into the throttle body. Done. Then, you can ditch all those messy vacuum hoses from the firewall.
As for the distributor, you MUST use an 88-91 Si or HF distributor. The dx will not work, it is different internally as it is missing two sensors.
For the fuel line, i've always used an 88-91 si or 90-93 integra. And for the throttle cable, i've always used an 88-91 si or 90-93 integra as well. I've done over 100 swaps for the shop I work at and we order those fuel lines and throttle cables in bulk from honda.
I'm sure you can get the 92-95 throttle cable and fuel line to work though with a little work if they don't work perfect already.

Re: 92-95 intake mpfi swap few questions..

Search on here for mpfi. I think one dude did a write up recently about his experience with it and the one detail nobody had mentioned about grounding a wire to the purge valve (what he calls it).

Re: 92-95 intake mpfi swap few questions..

well,
I just went to the junkyard today & picked up the fuel rail, throttle cable, fuel line (to the fuel filter),the cover for the wires on the mpfi, the plugs from the harness to the fuel injectors & I snatched a bunch of stuff:
injectors,bolts,gaskets,ext...
but I noticed that its an automatic,so I couldn't of used the mpfi setup,
(from what I've read)
so now I'm in search of an mpfi,si distributor & a injector resistor box,I keep looking on ebay & can't seem to find the right one(mpfi),besides the mini mpfi on the 92 civic cx,vx's,ext..

daym man, I just sent like 10 of those 92-95 dx/ex manifolds to the junkyard. If you need any throttle bodies or sensors from them, let me know. Yah, i'd recommend a 92-95 dx/ex manifold anyway...the 88-91 si manifolds are a little smaller, especially the 88's. And for the automatic manifold, are you talking about the EGR valve on the passenger side of the manifold? You can use it no problem, it just looks tacky. Just plug the vacuum lines off of it w/ screws and just don't use the plug on it, that's all.
But your best bet is a 92-95 manifold like i said, or better yet, a 96-00 ex manifold. Now that i think about it, i have one left if you want it. $50 shipped n it's yours. It's the type-r manifold for dseries.

well..I'm glad I read this before heading to the junkyard again!
what years it from,I'm going to do some researching on it after I wright this,
but,yea I'll take it,
does it come with the throttle body?sensors?bracket?
thats really all I need, the injectors would be great too!
I can get the sensors & bracket, throttle body from the junkyard,
but hes trying to tax for that stuff,
but mines a 5spd,will it work wheather its automatic or not?
I know I still need the resistor,pm6 & si dizzy,
I just posted up on the classifieds that I needed this stuff.
but let me know!

ok,I just done a quick research on the type-r,
its on the d16y8 motor,
"It has short, fat runners and a large chamber to allow the air to distribute to each cylinder properly. Also, for the non-vtec guys out there, it has the common horizontal throttle body, which will allow you to use the larger CAI's"

Re: 92-95 intake mpfi swap few questions..

I also just found this:
http://www.geocities.com/joeyp_19/D1...ifoldSwap.html
&
http://www.honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1018993
just let me know all your willing to sell,
because this seems a bit much of a swap, but not too much.
so pretty much the only real differences I found,is bewteen the automatic & manual,
for the eacv/iacv.
which one is the one your wanting to sell?
thanks

actually man, I just realized i sold it a couple months ago, i totally forgot. But, I do have a 92-95 EX intake manifold w/ all sensors and throttle body. It just doesn't have the fuel injectors. But, you don't need the obd1 injectors anyway (although you can make them work with a little extra wiring).
I also have a PM6 ecu. You can have the complete intake manifold and PM6 ecu i have for $100 shipped for everything. let me know man.

ok,
I wasn't too sure about the y8 manifold anyways, there was so much differents & about the iacv/eacv,it was just a big weird mess looking thing,
but I'm pretty sure its bad as hell,
but anyways,I might take you up on that deal,
the junkyards gotta 92-95 ex manifold also
(its automatic, not sure if it matters or not)
& I was actually going to go up there today & see what he wanted for it,
they dont have the pm6,but its all over ebay,
so what I'm going to do,is call the junkyard tomorrow & see what they want for the intake & tb,check around again on ebay to c the pm6,
and practicly man, just round it off, whichever ways the best I should go,
thanks for the offer because 100.00 w/shipping is a killer deal.
btw do you accept paypal?
& what would you want for the pm6 alone?
thanks
Randy

Aigght, I just did a search on ebay for you.
The cheapest pm6 was $48 shipped, so I'll do $45 shipped for that to you.
The cheapest manifold was $45 shipped without throttle body, fuel rail, and any sensors, just a bare manifold.
So, I can do $50 shipped on that for you...because I'm sending you EVERYTHING
so basically what I said before...$98 shipped is the cheapest I can go. Let me know.
I forgot that also have 2 Si distributors as well. If you still need one of those, let me know. I can do those for you for $75 a piece. So basically, if you buy everything from me, I'll do it all for $170 shipped. I won't go much lower than that, because I'm basically doing you a favor here...i can get rid of all this stuff on ebay for near $250 if i wanted to.

Re: 92-95 intake mpfi swap few questions..

ok,I just got an si distributor I think, off of h4bangin for 50.00,but he hasn't replied back yet,but I just sent the money through paypal yesterday,
so I'm going to wait a few days,
but I just called the junkyard & he wants 45.00 for the intake & 25 for the tb,
70.00,so I dont know, its an automatic car,so would that matter?

Well, it doesn't matter if it's from an auto. But, like i said, i have one from a 92-95 5speed EX if you want it w/ all sensors, fuel rail, and TB for $50 shipped. and $48 shipped for the ECU.
let me know.
