Torque Specs

Anybody have like a list of torque specifications for our cars...especially lug torque specs...my rotors keep getting warped because every time the rims have come off whoever did it didnt torque the lugs...broke down and bought a torque wrench and i wanna start checkin my lug torque...tired of having my rotors resurfaced...i think its about time for new brakes...

Re: Torque Specs

87-101 lbs for your wheels... I usually do about 95 when I put mine back on.

Re: Torque Specs

LMAO i believe your rotors are getting warped from heat, then cold real fast IMO. Like going through water under heavy breaking. I have never torqued any of my lug nuts since i have had cars for 14 years and no warped rotors here. But i worked at a parts store for 5 years and had many people come in and say it was caused from getting real hot and cooling off way to fast. LIKE WATER!!! There is a slim chance tho i could be wrong

Re: Torque Specs

Not sure that I've ever heard of rotors warping due to torque. They are steel so I think it takes a lot to get them warped. I bet its having them resurfaced, everytime they get resurfaced, they get thinner and more susceptible to getting warped again from heat. Just go buy yourself some new rotors homeboy.

Re: Torque Specs

rotors will and do warp from over torquing lug nuts. What happens is the rim puts more pressure on one area and as the rotor gets hot its more likely to bend and the rim pushing down in one area will do that. heat has alot to do with it to.
Oh yeah, torque them to 100ft/lbs. I have a full list of specs if you really want them all

Re: Torque Specs

Just buy a manual. It has tq specs for every part of your car. I used it religiously when building my motor.

Re: Torque Specs

not torqueing your lugs wouldn't cause then to warp. However it would cause them to have accessive runout and or parallism. which would cause a pedal pulsation.

Untorqued lugs CAN and sometimes will cause warped rotors, I've seen it done before, pr is right. I'm sure running them through cold water while they're hot also wouldn't help the situation.

Re: Torque Specs

yeah ive heard the hot then going through water thing....that may have some to do with it...maybe mixed with mis-torqued lugs...and thin walls might be my problem...but every little bit helps...pr ricer hook me up with the torque specs if its not too much trouble...im sure it would be usefull for those among us who search if a torque spec is needed...and black97gst i do have a pulsation in my brake pedal...i was assuming from warped rotors...thanks for the input everybody

Re: Torque Specs

Are you going to type all the torque specs all the way through the haynes manual? Holy shit man. I'll type up a list of 1g torque specs if you want...
