Good used car under $12K
Here is my current situation, hopefully you guys can help me out. I am a college student and I want to get a new car. Right now I have a 1988 Oldsmobile Delta 88 with just over 100K miles. It is starting to turn into a POS, so its time for a change. I think I can manage to come up with about $12,000 if I get a loan and use some of my college money. I want something that is relatively new with good reliability. It would be great if the car could also kick the shit out of all the damn rice burners buzzing around campus.
Right now I am looking at a mustang gt that is kind of nice but I haven't given it a test drive yet. My main problem with buying any vehicle is that I am 6'6" so I don't fit into the really small vehicles. I'm not even sure if I'll be able to squeeze into the mustang which people say is a relatively roomy sports car. Also, I would prefer a manual transmission since its cheaper and more fun to drive. Hope you guys have some suggestions, because I am just getting lost among all the choices out there. |

You wont find many newer cars of decent size to fit in. I know someone nearly your height in a 98 Camero - something like that might just squeek into your price range and speed requirements.

1999 Mustang GT Since my original post, I also found a 96 Mustang Cobra here: '96 Mustang Cobra YogsVR4: I will definitely try to find a camaro in my price range to test drive to see if I fit well. Even though I have only looked at mustangs so far, I am completely open to suggestions about any other models or brands. |

I got the chance to try out a 1997 mustang cobra today. Dang that thing was super fast, but unfortunately I could barely fit into it even with the seat all the way back. Anybody know if you can move the seat rails back to get more leg room? Basically if I could take out all the leg room of the back seat on the driver's side, I would fit perfectly. Otherwise I'll probably have to start looking at mid-size cars for something to fit into.
