coolant temperature sensor

i have a 1996 cavy with a 2.2...i had a problem with the rad but changed that...now the fan won't work...checked all the fuses and relays as well as changing the fan motor...i tried to find the coolant sensor but am not sure where it is...could someone possible point the way for me...the haynes manual is very vague as to its location...cheers jeff

Re: coolant temperature sensor

The main hard pipe you'll see what looks like a piece of brass with black on top and two wires go to it. Right around your alternator if i remember right
