Some night fun

Well this all started last week, I found out about a mod for my car that only costs about 5-10 dollars and it's a do it yourself. So I figure worth a shot to see if it works, if it doesnt then I can always remove everything and all I've lost is 5-10 bucks. So I got all the materials and put the mod together with a friend. It worked! I now have 3 settings, stock mode (9psi, 11 peak), Medium mode (11psi, 13 peak), and giant "oh my god a jetta should not be doing this!!!!!!!" Mode. (14.5psi, 18 peak, but holds 16 all the live long day in 4th and 5th.)

So Ive been driving aroundduring the night getting used to my newfound power in the car (should be around 240whp and 265-270wtq, at least that what other jettas and gti's my year and up have gotten by doing this mod.) After driving for a good 20-30 mins I come to this conclusion. I now have alot of wheel hop and this is what SRT's must feel like when they launch.

I get to a red light and see a Scion TC sitting next to me, I put the car in stock mode and start revving at the guy. He looks at me with a weird look like what are you thinking. The light turns green and we both launch, I put about 5 cars on him by 4th gear. I slow down put the car in neutral and start revving again. He slams on the gas and I now put the car into my highest mode and shift into 3rd making my tires chirp. He has about a 3 car lead on me. I shift to 4th and bring the boost all the way up to 18. While saying in 4th I passed the guy and went all the way home.

I got home and looked at my tires, they were freaking hot as hell! Guess I can't stay on the stock rims any longer...

Re: Some night fun

So what exactly is it that you bought and used to up the psi? Seeing as though it was only 10-15 bucks, I'm curious to know what it is...

Anyway, good race...

He bought an Ethiopian that hides under the hood and blows into his turbo when he wants more boost.

Ethiopian mod for the win!

Ah...that's pretty interesting. Guess it is pretty worth it then considering what you gained off of it. Nice...

Re: Some night fun

Its a boost mod. the VR-4 has it too, some people call it the "free boost mod" but it actually costs like 4 bucks. The old DSMs had it as well and cost about 10 bucks to do. In the DSM and the VR-4 you take a couple of vacume lines and either plug them or re-route them and it bring the boost up from 9 psi to 12 or 14 psi. The money is spent of clamps and "T" fittings.
In the Jetta, Golf, and A4 its the same thing except your messing with the ellectronics rather then the hoses. You essentially use a couple of diodes to change the voltage reading to the ECU. the ECU is tricked and then responds by increasing boost and fuel to compensate.

Re: Some night fun

actually you cant do it in the A4's cause you fry some stuff or they just dont work, cause it has alot more electrical things into it.

There is also one more part that I still need to do so that way I can hold more boost longer. Cause right now the way that the mod worked was that it changed the parameters of the ecu to make it think its supposed to boost 18 stock

Re: Some night fun

i thought it was about those lines of free boost mod like the dsms. sounds like its time for gotian to get motor mounts and new lightweight rims to enjoy the free boost even more.

dont need the motor mounts, just using a helper spring on the wastegate to hold the boost in, plus I'm ordering an upgraded n75 valve which is the n75 version J. The valve should increase my boost by about 3 more pounds safely in each of my modes so the ecu will make up for the extra boost since it thinks that it hasnt reached it's limit yet.

Dude thats way too much boost on stock injectors. Order a A/F guage NOW! otherwise your gonna burn a hole right through your pistons!

actually the ecu makes up for it and if something does happen it still goes into limp mode. Which is why if my boost tries to over the 17psi I go into it. But i'm going to order a 4 bar fpr to make up for it
