wiper problem

Hi all
I have a 97 model primera SLX with a faulty wiper, it works properly when on normal wipe or hi speed wipe but when i switch off it will not return to the park position instead it just stops where it was when the switch is turned off also when on intermittant wipe it only moves about a third of the way across the window then stops for the intermittant time then moves on another third and so on .
If anybody can tell me what part is faulty it would be a help.

I wish I could help you. Is your car underr warranty? If so, take it to the dealer and let them take care of it.

No the cars out of warrenty so i will have to sort the problem myself.

I have swopped the relay found beside the wiper motor and another relay type unit found beside the dash fuses out of another 97 primera with no effect and as i believe the switch to be ok i am off tommorrow to a scrap yard to find a second hand wiper motor, wish me luck.

Hi Ranger 1,

Your quite right! It probably is the wiper motor that is at fault in your case. However, I would urge you some caution when selecting a 'second-hand' wiper motor, as their is no way to test the condition of these motors. Thus, my personal view is, if cost is not too much, why not go in for a new genuine part from a Nissan dealer!

i swapped over a motor from a 2000 primera and it worked first time so that solved the problem for me unfortunately the owner need his motor back.
