Tires... cheap and sticky... suggestions?
Ok, so Mike is getting rims soon and thus he will need some tires. Well, hes set on having some 7" wide 18's so hes going to need all the grip he can get. Any recommendations on tires? Remember, hes on a budget. Thanks!

Re: Tires... cheap and sticky... suggestions?
Sticky tires don't last long, he's awd he shouldn't have too bad of traction issues. I barely spin my tires with my mods so it shouldn't be too big of an issue.

Re: Tires... cheap and sticky... suggestions?
I can tell you NOT to get Cooper Zeonz...they have the worst roadnoise out of any low profile tires I've used. My buddy has some 18's on his Eclipse, I can't remember what kind of tires he has but they're pretty good and not too expensive. I'll ask him.
EDIT: Alright, I guess he's running Akitas or something like that, he's had them for prolly 2 years now and still likes them alot. |

Re: Tires... cheap and sticky... suggestions?
I searched a whole week trying to find which tires were the best for the money. The only thing I can tell you is its confusing as shit. It's basically all tradoffs. You really have to narrow down exactly what you need them for. Almost every one will have an area it accels in and another that it completely sucks in. There are really good cheap tires that beat much more expensive ones in many areas though. Tirerack has very good reviews if you go to their test section. This is probably the most helpful thing though: http://www.consumersearch.com/www/au...res/index.html The tires I ended up getting were Yokohama Parada Spec 2's. They are relatively cheap ($100 per tire for 215/40/17 I think) and have very good dry traction. They look sweet too.

Re: Tires... cheap and sticky... suggestions?
hit up local tuner shops too, if you have any around you. usualy [at least this is true around here] they will have some deals on tires or some slightly used ones for very cheap. there are also non-name brand tires that have similar or same tread patterns as high enders for a fraction of the cost. i once got some dunlop sp 9000 knock-offs for 60 bucks a tire and beat them to shit for about 15k miles. and realize that you are going to beat your tires as well. untill you can afford some BFGoodrich g-Force KDW's you should just stick to some tires that you can trash and afford to replace every 15-20k or so [about a year of driving]. although i have had my Spyder for 3 years and have replaced all 4 tires 4 times...
1. Toyo Proxes. came on car. did numerous burnouts until i got new rims and tires. were failry new when i got them and very bad 3000 miles later. 2. Falken gr-b's. pretty good, no real complaints. won a lot of street races and wore them down to the bone in 15k. 3. Champion XXX. 9000 knock-offs, more beatdowns. great in rain and great in dry. did a lot of canyon driving with these and loved every minute. 15k to wires. 4. Kumho Ecsta Supra's. paid 75/tire instaled balanced blah from a friend in the tire business. pretty good so far. can't really tell the difference between the kumho high end or the knock-off's. 5. i'm going to end up with 19's and BFGoodrich g-Force KDW's. i have a set on my 740 and i can't break the bakc end loose like i could with the pirelli's on there. i mean i could get that fucker sideways and mow i just o faster around the corners. amazing tires... hope that helps out some... |

How about actually posting this somewhere else, like your own thread. This thread is about the best tires for the money and you throw an engine for sale in it? I'm sorry but that gets my "WTF approval" for the day.

Re: Tires... cheap and sticky... suggestions?
![]() We found some General tires on tire rack. They got really great reviews and they are only like $60 per 215/40/17. I think we're going to try those out. |

Re: Tires... cheap and sticky... suggestions?
Opps, I was so distracted by that awesome engine for sale post that I forgot to post my opinions on the tires...
I have the Firestone Fuzions and lemme tell ya what, they are awesome. I like them so much that I am considering getting some for the Firebird now that it is time to get new ones. I can't remember what I paid for them for the Talon but I do remember that it was a damn good deal off tire rack for what the tires are. Right now I can get them for 50 bucks a tire for the Firebird.
