New Problem!!
well ever since i bought my 92 camaro i had this ticking sound comming between the tranny and engine. I always drove with the windows up so i did not pay attention to it much because it went away as i reved it up. But now since it is nicer out i notice how anoying it was. So i look under the car and who ever had it before me must had bottomed out or hit something underneath because the oil pan has a little smash in it kinda by the drain plug and it is hardly taping the crank and that is what makeing the noise. So i am going to buy a new oil pan and put it on. I am getting just a stock replacement pan since i will be swaping my motor down the road. But is there any tips when changing it? it comes with the new pan, gasket, and oil pickup. Is that all i need besides gasket sealer and oil to refill it?

Re: New Problem!!
well, if you're crafty enough it can be done in car, but with the k member in the way, you need to drop the shaft , disconnect the trans mount, get a cherry picker on the motor, take the distrubuter out, other wise it hits the firewall and you go nowhere. loosen up the engine mounts and slowly bring the motor up with the trans tailing behind til you have the clearance. That's it in a nutshell..

Re: New Problem!!
oh crap!! man this sucks. i just put that new polly tranny mount in also and it was a pain in the ass since i had to drill out the crossmember. I think i will just buy the stuff and (sigh) pay a shop to do it. My buddy works at a shop up the street from me and i will probly take it there. I should probly by the y-pipe for my headers since he will probly have to take it off to get the pan off.My new headder have been sitting my garage for a while since i have to buy a y-pipe for them and it is $125 just for the y-pipe and i just kinda forgot about it. But i think i am just going to take it to the shop and have them do it.Does any one know how long the labor is for that job?

Re: New Problem!!
well now i am looking at the pains for my motor, the stock ones, and they are like mine. I don't think my pan is smashed, because i said it was because it was flat at the bottom and there was a small dent by the oil plug. So i will have to look at it again tomarow. and even if it was smashed a little, does the crank go that low to hit it? i did not think it does.

Re: New Problem!!
You know when you said a ticking from inbetween the tranny and engine I wanted to immediately say a flexplate or torque converter problem, but then you said you saw the pan was smashed, soooo.........

Re: New Problem!!
Make sure they actually work with headers...most shops around me won't touch them.

Re: New Problem!!
My headers are shorties so the oan will fit, but i think it is either a flex plate or the flywheel hitting something, i will have to take another look under there. I will take the dust cover off and take a peek.
