92 sentra help pls

ok heres the low down, I have a 92 Sentra, automatic transmission. my starter went out and i have a new one but i cant seem to get the old one out. i simply cant get to it, any ideas on how i can go about getting it out? any help would be good. if you need any more info on the car just ask. but seeing as how i have to work tomorrow i need this problem fixed ASAP.

also when the starter began acting up i noticed my car would die when i was going slow or at a dead stop. any ideas..

and one more problem, the very last time the car died on me I noticed the temp. gauge on the car jumpt to the top for about 2 seconds then the car died... was this a fluke or just more money i'll have to spend that i dont have???

Thank you in advance.

*** Update: Ok i think i figured out a lot of my problems. was having some arcing on the neg. battery cable. so i took out the cable and put a new one in. i have the side for the neg. battery termanal. and then the braket that grounds it. but i dont know where the other end goes to... noobish question but... where does it go >< i mean the car doesent start when i have it off. and does start when it touches the starter... do i need to bolt it up to the starter somehow. and if so where to... i cant get to the starter very easy
