Re: GM 85mm MAF Sensor kit

Of course headers help out but you have to weigh the cost which is around $800 or so for whatever performance benefit there is. Installation is no fun either. Hi -Flow CAT is highly recommended. Magnaflow Hi-Flow is one of the best deals going. You can get then on EBay for $55 including shipping. 2.25, 2.5 and 3.0 inlet/outlet size.

Yes, I have the Granatelli 85mm version but mine is cold air intake tuneable which is better than what ZZP has. Basically it is an LS1 MAF sensor. It is mounted before the throtttle body. The old MAF sensor on the throttle body gets canned.

BTW - Use of the ZZP 85mm MAF requires modified MAF/VAF tables programmed in the PCM.

You dont need a 85mm Mass airflow unless you exceed your MAF frequency. Once that happens you will notice a significant amount of KR. I purchased the 85mm Mass Airflow because I was seeing over 11,500 hz @ 30-35 degree weather. I was pushing about 13.5 lbs of boost as well. Now that I tuned in the MAF I see about 10,900-11,000 hz at the most up top @ 6000 RPMs. Like the other gentleman said you need a DHP Power Tuner to adjust that.

If you want headers go with S&S Headers from www.wbodystore.com. I got mine ceramic coated. IMO TOGs are the best, but I dont see much difference between the 2. Oh yeah non coated S&S headers are $500. With coating they are aboout $700. I can't wait to get these on the car Togs are out of business, but you can buy them used. People charge an arm and a leg for them

Re: GM 85mm MAF Sensor kit

The biggest reason why an LS1 MAF would serve no useful purpose for this poster is because I believe he has a L36 GT. Different story with an L67 running forced air induction. The 85mm sensor would be a good choice for a '04 and up GTP/Comp G due to the 75mm stock throttle body. I have no problems with my Granatelli which is a calibrated MAF sensor and cold air tuneable with a simple adjustment. I monitor MAF data with Autotap. My 1/4 ET definitely improved and that is what counts.

Another good header choice is SLP and they are still in business. They were always cheaper than the TOGs. Around $675 for aluminum ceramic coated. I've had mine installed since last summer and I have no complaints.
