Exterior Maintainence

Finally had a nice day and the time to give the Rodeo a thorough cleaning since I got it a few months ago. Looks pretty good for a 13 year old vehicle. There was some rust on the bumper when I got it and now there seem to be more spots coming through. Any ideas what I can do to stop the rust? Por 15 or something else? Also, the plastic on the door guards and roof rack have faded over time. Other than ArmorAll, is there something that you would suggest which would restore the luster and be more protective?

Thanks for any suggestions!

Re: Exterior Maintainence

some mothers car polish and one of them fancy buff balls will do the trick on the fading plastic parts...

Re: Exterior Maintainence

I tried sprucing up my roof rack with armorall, but it really didn't do anything. I'd love to know of an idea that works there.

One thing I've noticed about this vehicle is that armorall makes the inside clean, but it doesn't make it shine. All other cars I've had looked great with fresh armorall on it, but the type of material/color they used in my Rodeo doesn't look great. It doesn't look bad, it looks better, but it doesn't have that classic armoralled look. It still looks a lot better when cleaned, but I'm always a bit disappointed in the finished product on the inside.

as far as the rust, there are a few options, but it will be tough to get it to look perfect. You could put bedliner over it. The PO15 would probably do it.

This summer I am going to fix mine. I have two real small spots that I will tackle. I am going to sand down the rust, prime it and paint it with touch-up paint. Hopefully that will hold, but if not, I'll fix it when needed. I'm not too concerned as to how it will look either, as long as the rust is gone.
