Re: 350 engine
is there a fuel injected 350 in there now or a little 305 or some even smaller v-6? if you have a fuel injected 350, you can simply put on a carb unless the intake manifold is squirley, then you might have to buy an edelbrock intake or something like that. you could even drop in an older style 350, it will bolt right in, just the only problem might be figuring out how to bypass stuff like the oxygen sensors and stuff... general motors still makes the older style 350 as a crate engine... the cheapest one is about 260 horsepower and goes for $1350 on jegs i believe... then replace the heads it has with some vortec ones and the intake and throw a bigger but not too big of a camshaft in there... basically you will have at least 400 horsepower and 400 lb.ft. of torque at the crank, throw in a better torque converter for the transmission and you have a fast street truck that can beat pretty much any stock pickup on the road... though trucks arent really for racing lol
p.s. i dont know if the transmission would mount right up or if you would have to get a different configuration in that area, like maybe a turbo 400 or something if the one you have wont line up or isnt strong enough.
