Gas Gauge not working
Hello,
well thats not specifically correct, it will read from full to just about empty, randomly however, sometimes while I am driving it will just bob up and down, until it settles about a half tank. So, really I have no idea how much gas I have. I spoke to my mechanic, he said to look for a Troubleshooting Guide for the gas gauge, either in a manual, or online.....so, that is why I am here asking for help Thanks a lot everyone!

Now, is this something that I can do myself, IE, with my girlfriend's father, or do I have to drop the gas tank to change the part? Speaking of, how much would the part cost me?

BTW - It will be very dirty so use a shop vac and clean up otherwise you'll not see the c-clip. You don't want dirt dropping into the fuel tank. Good luck! Also disconnect battery negative cable before working on the fuel system.

Re: Gas Gauge not working
Bob, as always, is correct. Just for reference, the AC-Delco part numbers are as follows for a 2000 GP GT:
fuel pump (includes level sensor) : MU232 (gm#25325702) $421.92 @ dealer fuel level sensor only: SK1028 (gm# 25323814) $160.64 @ dealer I work at a Delco distributor in Flint, MI and can sell them at $210.96 and $80.32 respectively, + s/h. If you're interested, you can PM me with your zip code and I can give you a shipping quote too. Whatever you do, don't buy Advance and Auto-Zone's ""Master" brand. I used to work for Advance and the Master Brand is JUNK. Airtex isn't much better either, so try to stick with AC-Delco or Carter if you can.
