Day time running lites

O.K. , before i go mucking up my electrical system, my 2001 has the most annoying option in the lower 48. day time running lites. the only "official " way to cancell them is to push the dome lite button 4 times, and they are cancelled untill the key gets turned off and next time it's the dome light dance again. i'm wearing out the button. can i pull the DTL relay in the under hood fuse box without mucking up anything else?
