98 Cavalier cold start...

Here is my problem...

When it is very cold my car starts fine...on a hot day it does not...i have to press on the gas pedal if not then it will just turn, turn and turn....

I have replaced fuel filter, checked fuel pump, engine compression, wires and plugs are good....

I used to buy regular fuel then i switched to supreme and it made a difference for one month then it was back to normal again...i also put injector cleaner many times.....

please help me...this is getting really annoying...

Thanks...SIMON

Re: 98 Cavalier cold start...

well there could be several problems... if i were you, make sure you are putting oil in that is made for summer time driving... if your using a thicker oil in the summer, its like pushing sludge and mud through your engine, because it is so heavy... in winter it should be lighter as well...

Re: 98 Cavalier cold start...

Is your engine cranking fast enough. I had the same problem and it was because the el cheapo replacement starter motor was falling to bits after one year. I put in a decent rebuilt starter and I have never had a problem starting hot again.
