I have a tanabe racing medalion but I think this question goes for other exhaust systems as well. I notice when I have the silencer in an take it out there is a small condensation build up inside the muffler. Is this harmfull to the muffler at all? Also, does the silencer take away any signifigant performance in the vehicle?

I get the same condensation from my Tanabe RM. I don't think it's anything to worry about seeing as how the exhaust is stainless and shouldn't be harmed by it.
I dyno'd my car with and without the silencer...it's good for 2 hp at the wheels.

Do you mean 2hp without the silencer AND with it?

oooh, so do you know how much the exhaust gives you alone?

No...that's really a subjective thing. An exhaust doesn't actually GIVE you more power, it frees up the otherwise restricted airflow to let your engine produce more power. No power comes from the exhaust. You may pick up a few horse by using a free flowing exhaust with a stock motor. There's no real answer to that question. Just gotta get it on the dyno.

One more question, I now notice a build up of fibers. Is this because my exhaust is new? Will they always appear?

Hmmm not sure on that one. Carbon buildup maybe but not fibers?

No, it's definitely fibers

Hey, how does your exhaust fit? I bought the Tanabe RM because the reviews said it fit well, but I find that mine hangs too low. Is there a way I can fix that? Change of hangers or something?

On the question about condensation in the muffler: It's normal, especially if you have a silencer. The condensation most of us see coming out of the tailpipe is caused by the catalytic converters. When you supress the gases from escaping normally (using the silencer), it's going to back up the condensation. Kind of like a greenhouse effect on the muffler. Hope that helps.
