evo vs. crx

i just wanted a strait answer on this one. i know it depends on everything in the world but lets say the crx=everyday street tires, b16 boosted to 270 hp. does it have a chance with the stock evo. if not off the line because of awd evo. what about 40 on. what do you think. i just think it would be cool to show up at the illegals and hang with the big boys

Re: evo vs. crx

from a 40 a properly tuned 270hp CRX should rape a stock evo...i mean cmon a SRT-4 puts like 220whp down and rapes stock evos from a roll

Re: evo vs. crx

You have to think about power to weight ratio and gearing. CRX is probably lighter and has puny gear ratios, so logically if it's putting out similar power it will accellerate faster in the straights.

Re: evo vs. crx

i thought of that but i was told by a evo finatic that they had around 260hp but idk. i figured the awd would take the crx off the line and idk about the rest but i am pretty sure the crx wins

Re: evo vs. crx

a crx with 270 whp would be running 12's all day long. stock evo's run what? like a 14.1 with a good driver?

Re: evo vs. crx

It depends on what model Evo... Evo ix or MR with decent driver would destroy an SRT-4. A boosted CRX with sticky tires would do the job... AWD isn't always going to win from a launch. Go read some threads in the Street Racer section in the Racing Forum (not Honda Street Racing forum). The Evo is not a high speed monster though due to short gearing... perhaps the 6 speed MR with 289hp stock however you wouldn't want to mess with...

Re: evo vs. crx

i've always thought that the crx would take most things off the line, even with a stock engine, being as light as it is.

AWD drive sucks at rolling start. Off the line the Evo will win but top end..I think the boosted rex will still have a chance.

Re: evo vs. crx

better yet...how bout all motor?
200 whp in a crx is good for 12's. You only need about 160-170 whp to beat an evo. A ITR motor in a crx will spank an evo. A GSR swap in a crx w/ some decent bolt ons will beat an evo too.

Re: evo vs. crx

i have both an evo and a crx. Both are stock. i have the crx and my wife has the evo(long story on why she has it but it will be mine when we get an suv for growing family) and when we race, i seem to get her off the line everytime. Then her car takes off. We do it just for fun. Since we got the evo, i have only had one honda stand a chance, and it was a turboed car as well. I dont race that much so it's not like i am spanking people all day. I did race an srt and unless he sucked, which it sounds like he did, i got him from the line and pulled on him pretty good. I could hear his blow off valve on every shift. And last, yea evo is very fast but it defiently is not the fastest car. Has plenty of potentiel however.

Re: evo vs. crx

cool. i have been tryin to get my buddy to race one just to see how good of a race it is. b16a with boltons and 800$ suspension vs. pretty sure stock evo. there are around 4 that show up every week to the illegals. but one has like carbon fibre everything. idk if he has done anything to the engine tho

Re: evo vs. crx

crx with b16 and bolt-ons is hardly a match for a stock evo. We were under the assumption it was boosted. It may take off from the line fast, but my $ would be on the evo.
