Need Advice..Going in the right direction??

Here's what i'm planning on putting in just want to get suggestions if this is a good idea.
Alpine IVA D310 DVD Multimedia Head Unit
Alpine SPR 17LS 6.5 compents in front doors and rear hatch (70W RMS)
3 Alpine SPS 10C2 4" coaxial in front dash (30w RMS)
2 Alpine SWR Type R subs in trunk (500W RMS)

For amps I am unsure.
I plan on 1 Alpine PDX 1.1000 (1000W RMS At 1) for the two subs or the MRD M1005 (700W RMS x 1) My questions is this:if I am running two subs with one of these amps which is better for my application? the speakers are 500w RMS the pdx has a higher RMS but is it a waste of money or is the m1005 plenty of power? I can purchase either just dont want to waste money on power I cant use. Also I dont understand the 4 ohm 2ohm difference. is one more preferable if i am using one of these amps to power 2 subs?

Multi channel amp.
Same dilema. Either a pdx 4.150 (150 RMS x 4) or a MRA d550 digital theater amplifier (60 RMS x 5) With this amp I would install the center channel speaker also. Problem the 6.5 componets are 70 RMS Do I need a 150 RMS amp or is that over doing it. I would rather have the theater system if it would sound just as good. But if it will sound way better i will buy the pdx. just don't want to blow the speakers with the 150rms amp.

I am leaning towards the 5 channel digital theater amp to run the 2 sets of 6.5s the 4 in speakers and the center speaker. and the pdx 1.1000 to run two 4 ohm subs in seperate enclosures. I think this is right but not sure. Also What is the suggested upgrade for power. Alternator, battery, capicitor. The install guy says battery but not sure. Thanks for the help...

Re: Need Advice..Going in the right direction??

So, you want 5.1 in your vehicle? Why?

I'd recommend some Type-X components up front, some type-R coaxials for Rear fill, and the pair of type R subs.

I'd use the the PDX1.1000 and the PDX4.150.

You'll have a solid front stage powered by 150rms, and you can tone down the rears to only be around for rear fill (you don't want the same speakers and same power for the rears... it'll pull your soundstage too far to the rear... you want sound coming from in front of you ). And you'll have a solid 1000rms for the pair of Type-R Subs.

And you'll have matching amplifiers, that are stackable (which is pretty tits if you ask me...)

Re: Need Advice..Going in the right direction??

you seem to have a LOT of irons in the fire ....... so let's try to go at them one at a time.

5.1 or home theater - there is very little MUSIC recorded in 5.1, so not really worth it just yet.

Tons o' speakers ...... I am not quite sure what you are trying to achieve, bit in a sound quality setup - less is generally more. The location and angling of the speakers and system tuning are far more important than the manufacturer/ model.

Power to speakers ...... if you like listening to MUSIC, you can WAY overpower them. A set of speakers rated for 50 watts RMS can easily handle 300-400 watts IF you are playing music material but will only handle 50 watts if you are playing test tones (like most bass CD's).

Power delivery ..... Alternators deliver ALL the power once the car is turned on. Extra batteries are only good for extra "car off" listening time and are an additional drain on the alternator once the car is started. Caps have a very minimal impact on your sytem if any. Try not doing upgrades to your electrical system if you can help it.

Don't jump into anything too quickly ..... and there are other brands besides Alpine LOL
