Re: better fuel

K&N fipkII "cold air" intake filter system and a flowmaster cat-back exhayst system jumped my over-all to 17-18 mpg, and pure hiway went up to 26mpg, and it sounds better too!!! but not too loud. slight performance bump, but not that much.

i probably should mention the original combined milage before mods was 14mpg maybe due to living in the metro miami area and it takes 55 minutes to drive 22 mi's to work?? my 01 jimmy spends more time at stop lights and traffic jams than at 45-65mph.
since the last update, i added a hypertechPPIII and was using the 93 octane tuning program, but now with 93 octane at 3.35 here, i reset it to 87., still gets the same milage improvments, but a nice kick in the tail for the performance, just have to remember to keep my foot out of the fun range above 2500rpm and the gas pedal denting the floor!!!
just promise to avoid those "tornado type devices" and the "spacer's " as the tornado type device is .35 cents worth of tin and won't really help. the spacer things make the most god awful high pitched screaming whistle, and most jimmy's , the spacer add's 2 inches to the height of the TBI and the hood gets too close when closed.
good luck, keep at it.
