93 Tbird with automatic seatbelts

I'm having a weird problem with my tbird. The seatbelt light stays on. Both doors are shut (the door ajar light doesn't come on). However I can pull some excess of the passenger side seatbelt out of the retractor unit and let it go back in and the light goes out for about 10 seconds and then comes back on (sometimes I have to pull the entire lenght of seatbelt out kinda hard and then let it go back in before the light goes out). It doesn't chime until I turn on the lights. I'm thinking it's a sensor or something in the retractor unit.

Does anyone know of a fix or a way I can bypass the sensor? It is getting really annoying, especially if I have to drive at night.

Thanks in advance!
