Re: supercharger vs turbo
Sell your car to that guy before it blows up. Superchargers aren't as effective on puny engines as turbos.

Re: supercharger vs turbo
Okay, it may not blow up... at first
But they're right, a supercharger would get you some power but the potential is greater with a turbo for an engine that size. But make no mistake, you can blow up your engine just as easily if not easier than with a blower!!! Theres a guy with a 95 accord that dropped a H22 in there with a turbo and decided it was a good idea to run it at 16psi ALL THE TIME! Considering he hadn't built much internals that wasn't a good idea any of the time. Long story short, he was on the highway and pretty much blew two pistons through the hood of his car. Dumbass. He coulda gave me that H22 and turbo kit and I coulda took to his stock engine with a pick axe for free!

Re: supercharger vs turbo
wow. All these "turbo is better" comments and people didn't even ask him what his power goals are. Turbo is not always better.
If you're thinking 5-6 psi (which doesn't mean anything since all turbos are different), I'd assume you only want a 50-60 hp increase. In that case, it depends on whether you're willing to build your own kit or not. If you're willing to build your own kit, then you should get a smaller turbo. The smaller turbo will spool up faster and give you a better powerband than a larger one (that will give you mostly just top end power). But if you're going to be buying a pre-fabed kit, then you might as well go with the supercharger if your goals are that low. |

Re: supercharger vs turbo
well you're about maxed at 220whp because that's when D's decide to call it a day and break....make somewhere in the 200whp range and have a good time.....14b or 16g will get you there easily on a cheap homemade set up....all of it can be done for less than $1g, but i would go "extravagent" and spend maybe $1500 on the whole set up.....
