1994 Poor accelleration/stumbling

Newbie Member
Original owner, 235,000+ miles
Background: 150,000 new fuel pump, new distributer @ 220,000, regularly scheduled servicing.

Problem(s):
Driving on the highway passing car at 75mph and lost accelleration. Car was running and was able to pull off the road. Car was towed to my mechanic for repair.

Car is running but the accelleration is poor -- stumbles when pulling out from a stop, merging or passing. It stumbles when cruising on highway at speeds of 60+, no gas smells, etc.

Starts up find and the idle is good-smooth, good around local town slow driving. Must do gentle (feathering) accellerating when starting out from a stop. No hard accelleration.

Mechanic checked:
Fuel pressure, cat converter, timing, distributer.

Replaces:
Distributer Cap, router, ignition wires set, oxygen sensor, A/C spark plugs.

Mechanic Note:
SMALL coolant leak at intake manifold gasket -- had this for a few years.

Is it time to go to a Dealer for life support????

Thank you ahead of time for your help.

Craig & Kerry Seibert

PS We love the 94 Bravada and we have a 2002 also.
We really want both of them on the road.

I had a similar problem that involved a agas line that runs inside the plenum of the intake to the fuel injector unit, I had no gas smell but it was leaking in the intake pretty bad, might check it, part is cheaap, and change the oil after .

yeah a common problem, but don't get ripped off big time by your mechanic like i did. here's a link to a previous forum that will tell you what to check for and how to fix it.

Welcome to the site,
I'd check the MAP sensor and Throttle Position Sensor (TPS), idle to full open values.
Off the subject but same car, how has the transmission held up through the years?
