91 z24 cutting off when stopping

i've got a 91 z24 automatic that is cutting off sometimes when i get stopped. other times it will act like is going to cut out, rough idling up and down for a few seconds and then it will straighten out and idle fine while stopped.it did this about six months ago for a day or two, then it quit just as fast as it started. any chance it could be a vacuum line or pcv valve, or any suggestions?

Do a search on TCC Solenoid, see if any of the posts match your symptoms.

Re: 91 z24 cutting off when stopping

it has cleared up. just as quick as it started. i already had the tcc replaced a few years ago. it was doing it even when i manually put it in neutral. i did put some premium in the tank just before it stopped. bad gas?

Re: 91 z24 cutting off when stopping

OH! That's an important detail you left out, isn't it? The idle air flow and such is controlled by the computer. Unfortunately, it learns all the right things to do by actually doing it but also clears the memory when the battery's disconnected for a few minutes. Its supposed to happen, don't worry. There's an actual process to go through to relearn the idle, but it can also be done by just driving around and not freaking out when it dies.
