91 PA Rear Bearings

Anyone know how hard it is to change out the rear bearings on a 91 PA?

Re: 91 PA Rear Bearings

Easy job to do: There's 4 (number 50 torx) bolts retaining it in. That's it.
Popping it out will require a slide hammer (or a lot of cursing and banging with a hammer) because the hubs are always rusted in.
Beware and be gentle with the backing plate for the brakes. The hub has bolts not studs. When the hub comes out, the backing plate will flop around causing maybe the brake line to break.

Re: 91 PA Rear Bearings

The hubs can be purchased from auto recyclers for $30-$40. I changed one on my 1988 PA when I was changing my snow tires. The Torx bit is essential. I had no problem tapping it out from behind. The other side is starting to hum so I guess I'll be doing it too. The car has 378,000km (235,000 mi). The front hubs are little more difficult. I let my mechanic do those.
