2001 2500HD abs/brake light problem...

I have a 2001 GMC 2500hd that is getting eratic abs and brake warning lights coming on. Its not just one or the other, both abs and brake lights come on simutaneously. If I turn off the ignition and turn it back on they may stay out for a few days then out of the blue come on again.

I understood the brake system and abs system were different circuits and they shouldn't come on together.

Does anyone have an idea where I should start. Initially I will check the wheel speed sensors (tomorrow).

There is no warranty or recall (in my area). I live in salt lake city where they use salt on the roads through the winter, but the recall is only for the "salt belt" in the north east.

Thanks for any advice....

You need to have it scanned on an abs function scanner or you will spend time and money throwing parts at this.

So one way or another I've got to take it to the dealer?

Didn't you get the recall notice? They just sent them out about the ABS
