We had the tranny replaced on our 94 Grand Am.The shop doing the tranny broke the transaxle but replaced it.Had a problem with it right away and they fixed it.Said it was something to do with the transaxle. This was a couple months ago and the car has barley been driven since the fix.
The ignition key will no longer turn.Ive read all the threads concerning this but I have one question. The wheels on the car are perfectly straight but the steering wheel emblem is quite crooked. The car did not need an alingement...So could the transaxle have anything to do with the key problem? Seems like it can be alot of things...just wondering before we start replacing...Thanks in advance.... |

Re: key stuck/trans axle,related?
Having same problem, Grandma. In my case, its the more than likely a loose connection from the gear shifter sensor when car is in park to the
mechanical lever in the key tumbler. Temporarily solved this problem, by simply tapping on the gear shifter. There are many possible causes of the key getting stuck in the tumbler. They range from parts not sensing car is in park, to problems with the lock cylinder itself. The sensing problems can be due to solenoid malfunction, cables being too loose, wires no longer making a solid connection, ect. So be patient! Hope this helps. Computermadness
