Please Help!?!

'95 rodeo 4x4, 3.2L
First thanks to all everybody for all the help I've gotten from this site in the past, it's a fantastic resource.

Now I've got a problem that I am just stumped about. I was having a problem with my turn signals where they would intermittently make a buzzing sound and not blink at all. My first idea was that the flasher was bad. After I replaced that part the problem still existed, so I came inside got on the trusty old forum and discovered that this is a common problem and most of the time the turn signal switch is the culprit, I also discovered that instead of spending $150 for a new one, I could simply removed the contact plate and clean it up. I tried that and the signals worked beautifully.

Here's the clincher, After I buttoned her back up I came back inside to have some dinner. When I went back out she wouldn't start at all. I took the battery down to have it tested and it's fine, I checked all my fuses and relays, they are all good, everything else works fine - the radio, hvac and such. it just won't start. When I hooked the battery up I heard the fuel pump priming so I know it's not that. I looked for a loose connection, or anything I might have knocked loose and found nothing.

I'm at my wit's end, I did a forum search on this and found that this is a common problem as well, but nobody really gave a definitive solution. Has anybody else experienced this or know anything about this? I would really appreciate some advise. Thanks. and I apologize for being long winded

Re: Please Help!?!

Others may jump in soon to help out....but to me the sudden lack of starting could be due to an ignition connection at the key switch area?
Now to help everyone out, can you tell us if the engine even cranks at all?

Re: Please Help!?!

No, the engine does nothing when I turn the key to the start position, no solenoids clicking or anything. the acc and run positions work fine. Thats the only thing I can think of too that maybe there was a bad connection on the igniton that I might have bumped loose while I was working on the signal switch, is there a way to test that?

Re: Please Help!?!

I'm occasionally experiencing the same thing, mine is the classic signs of a starter failing. Hasn't quite given the ghost yet, but every 4-5 days or so, I'll turn the key, can hear the pump priming, everything else works, but all I get is one click and that's it. No other sounds, no engine trying to crank, nothing.

Then I'll turn the key off for 5-7 seconds and try again, sometimes it fires, sometimes it don't, but it's been firing everytime by the 3rd try.

I'll put a new starter in in June, I hope it holds til then.

Re: Please Help!?!

I am starting to think along the same lines, I pulled out the ignition switch and tested all the positions for continuity and resistance, by all appearances the switch seems to be fine, I've got good battery power and good ground at the wire harness, it just sort of seems wierd that the starter would be bad because I've never had any problems with it in the past.
