I have a 97 gst and the turbo blew so I bought a t3/t4 hybrid. I put it all back together and now it smokes like crazy. Like oil is just being pored into it.
Any ideas? What to look at? I think the o2 sensor is burnt out. Any ideas on wastegate vac hose connections? |

Re: burning too much oil
was the turbo new? Sounds like a blown oil seal. Check inside the intake and ic pipes and see if you see oil, also check the oil level and see if and how much its dropped. and what about the wastegate?

Re: burning too much oil
The turbo is new and its not leaking anywhere. The wastegate is a 47mm no name brand. The oil drops alot every time I start it up. I'm paying on 2 cars and can only afford one what do i do?

Re: burning too much oil
So there is no oil in the turbo? What brand is the turbo? Just as a precaution do a compression test.

E-bay If you look at other threads I started you can see the kit.

Re: burning too much oil
oh yeah thats right, you have an xspower kit. That explains why you are burning oil. I'll put $100 down saying your shaft seal is shot

Re: burning too much oil
That looks like a pretty cheap/shady kit to me. Where is it smoking from, out the back of the exhaust right? Or the turbo itself it smoking like crazy?

Re: burning too much oil
out the exhaust. But how do I know if its bad? I left the ic pipe off and started it and no oil leaks.

If it is bad how hard is it to fix?

Re: burning too much oil
It's not worth fixing, your turbo is literally glued together. Lesson learned, don't buy XSPower turbos.....or anything from them IMO

Re: burning too much oil
Then I need a turbo that bolts to a t3 manifold flange for cheap. Any ideas?

Re: burning too much oil
t3 and cheap dont usually go together unless you get a stocker from something that has the t3 flange

Re: burning too much oil
Then I should just buy a stock replacement, cause the compression test turned out good.
