D15Z1 Engine rebuild - head machining?
I had to remove the motor on my 1994 Civic VX to straighten the front cross bar and other front end parts after a minor argument with the back of a dodge pickup (they lie...he didn't dodge). Anyway it has 185,000+ miles on it and I figure since I have it out, I may as well clean out all the carbon and deposits and start fresh.
My question is: Has anyone had luck with standard machine shops working on the head for this motor? That is the one job I'd rather leave to someone with all the right tools, 'cause I hate all those springs. I'd really like to replace the valve stem seals and make sure everything is smooth for the next 200,000 miles or so.
I love this car since I drive by alot of gas stations in it. Even with all the miles it has on it it still gets 42-48 mpg depending on the type of driving. I am also changing all the front end alignment parts (upper control arm, lower ball joint, tie rod ends) while I have it apart and I am hoping I can get back to the 55-60 MPG highway mileage I got when it was new.
